About Us

Cats Protection is the UK's oldest cat welfare charity, established 75 years ago.

Cats Protection Yesterday

How it all began.....on 16th May 1927 a meeting of cat lovers was held at Claxton Hall in London at which it was resolved "..that a society be formed to be devoted exclusively to promoting the interests of cats and that it be named The Cats protection League."  Our name was shortened to Cats Protection in 1999, but our purpose remains the same as it did over 75 years ago.

Cats Protection Today

Today Cats Protection have over 260 branches nationwide, all run on a voluntary basis.  Worcester & District Branch was established in 1978, and last year our branch successfully re-homed over 300 cats in our area.

Our area covers the following postcodes:
WR1, WR2, WR3, WR4, WR5, WR6, WR7, WR8, WR9, WR10, WR13, WR14 & WR15  (for information on your local branch, if you are not in our area, please click here to see our Head Quarters website).

Cats Protection rescues and re-homes unwanted and abandoned cats, and promotes responsible cat ownership.

We work towards the three following key aims:

Paw Print   TO INFORM THE PUBLIC IN THE CARE OF CATS & KITTENS

Paw Print   TO ENCOURAGE THE NEUTERING OF ALL CATS NOT REQUIRED FOR BREEDING

Paw Print   TO RESCUE STRAYS, UNWANTED CATS & KITTENS, REHABILITATE & RE-HOME THEM

You can view our current list of cats available for re-homing on our cat adoption or kitten adoption pages.

The more people we have to help us, spreads our workload and makes it possible for us to help even more cats. As a branch we have helped many thousands of cats and kittens over the years, some desperately in need of care and veterinary treatment.

With the help of our dedicated volunteers, we are able to look after our cats in care until a suitable home can be found for them.  If you feel that you could help us in any way please visit our how to help page or contact us for further information.
