Feral Cats

Feral cats live in colonies, which if left can become out of control as the population of cats grows week by week. One of our aims is to combat this problem in our area.

The most important thing is that the general public contact us before these groups get over sized and out of control. Our dedicated volunteers, who have worked with feral cat problems for many years, can then spend time trapping the cats, so that they can be neutered or spayed.

If we control the birth of new kittens in these colonies, this then brings the colony under control.  We can then help by providing a regular source of food for these cats.  In the areas where we have successfully brought the number of feral cats under control through neutering, we find that local people are then very happy to feed these cats with our help. The problem is then managed and numbers reduced, this also helps to reduce the spread of cat diseases throughout the colonies.

When we find very young feral kittens in these colonies, we trap them and then provide them with several months of loving care with a Fosterer, so that they can be socialised and rehabilitated, leading to them being rehomed and receiving a better quality of life.

If you have any further questions about feral cats, please contact us.
